Delivery Condition
The heat treatment and surface state material is supplied in — annealed, normalised, quenched and tempered, or solution treated and aged.
The same grade behaves like two different materials depending on how it arrives. EN24 bar supplied annealed machines easily and is hardened afterwards; supplied quenched and tempered it is ready to use but hard to cut. Titanium and Inconel carry the same question between mill annealed and aged. Stating the delivery condition on the order, not just the grade, is what stops a machining shop losing a week.
