Ballistic Acceptance Test
A firing trial on material or a built panel against the specified threat, witnessed and recorded.
Where the specification calls for it, plate is accepted on a firing test from the same heat and thickness, with the report referenced to the heat number. For fabricated structures, the trial may be on a representative panel including the weld and mounting detail. The acceptance route belongs on the purchase order, because retro-fitting a trial after production is both slow and expensive.
